What is it?
Orthodontics uses gentle, controlled forces to move teeth into better positions and, when needed, guide jaw growth. This improves both the function and appearance of your bite. A well-aligned smile is easier to keep clean, lowering the risk of cavities, gum problems, and tooth wear. We offer different solutions, including nearly invisible aligners and traditional bracket braces, depending on your needs.
Reasons for undesired tooth- or jaw position
Why you need it
Methods
When there is a desire for teeth to be straightened we should be aware of the cause before starting. In most cases the reason for an orthodontic treatment is to straighten crooked teeth. The cause of crooked teeth is a shortage of space for the teeth in the tooth arches. This shortage of space can be due to either small arches, relatively too wide teeth, excess number of teeth or a combination.
There are 3 approaches available to tackle the shortage of space: 1 extraction of teeth, 2 reduce the width of the teeth by grinding the enamel, 3 surgical enlargement of the arches.
Our current society sometimes makes us tend to prefer the quick and cheap fix of the “external picture” instead of a more durable approach with respect for healthy tissues. As every human has only one set of permanent teeth Doctor Han often finds it a pity to grind them down for the sake of straightening. Sometimes a small surgical intervention can create the space needed for sound and straight teeth with healthy gums and a long lasting result.

A dental cleaning is a professional visit where built-up plaque and tartar from your teeth will be gently removed and polished them to keep your mouth healthy.
Important to know: In most cases gum disease is painless and patients are not aware of this ongoing disease. If correct dental diagnosis has not been made in time, teeth can start moving and even fall out. This is why it’s so important to have your teeth AND GUMS checked regularly by your dentist even if you don’t have any complaints.
Why you need it
Methods
During the appointment of a dental cleaning we will check the health of your gums, remove plaque and tartar, and give you personalized guidance to keep your mouth clean and healthy.
Timeline
A regular cleaning takes about 30-45 min, a complete treatment of periodontitis will take 3 months.

Causes:

Methods
The permanent central incisors erupt around the age of 6, which means during a (wo)man’s life, it is subjected to a lot of external influences that can lead to tooth wear. With this treatment we can turn back time and restore the teeth to how they were 10 or even 20 or 30 years ago!
Timeline
Depending on the treatement plan, between 2 weeks and 9 months without orthodontics.
What is it?
A prosthetic device made from an acrylic resin with artificial teeth designed to replace missing teeth and gums.
Why you need it
Methods
Together we choose the colour, form and position of the teeth, until we have a desirable setup which will be transformed into a permanent denture.
Timeline
Depending on the situation, we can provide a prosthetic solution within a single day. In most cases, however, we take impressions of the jaws and schedule 4–5 appointments over a period of about 6 weeks to finalise a custom-made denture.
Why you need it
Regular dental check-ups are essential for maintaining oral health and detecting potential issues before they become serious. Plaque buildup, early cavities, gum inflammation, and bite misalignments can develop unnoticed without routine monitoring. Regular visits also support long-term oral health and hygiene.
Methods
During a check-up, the dentist examines your teeth, gums, and bite. Digital X-rays may be taken if necessary. Professional cleaning removes plaque and tartar, followed by personalized advice for maintaining optimal oral hygiene.
Timeline
Routine check-ups are recommended every 6 to 12 months, depending on individual needs.
What is it?
A dental crown is a custom-made cap in ceramics that covers and protects a damaged tooth, restoring its natural shape, strength, and color. Depending on the situation, only the chewing surface may be restored with a partial crown, while a full crown completely covers the tooth.
When one or more teeth are missing, several crowns can be joined together to form a bridge, which fills the gap and restores both function and aesthetics.
Why you need it
Methods
By first preparing the tooth we create space for the crown/onlay. With the use of a 3D scanner we create together with our dental technician a new tooth in ceramic for you.

Important to know:
What is it
A root canal is a procedure where the dentist removes the infected nerve inside a painful tooth, cleans the inside, and seals it so the tooth stays healthy and pain-free.
Causes: A root canal becomes necessary when bacteria penetrate deep into the tooth, causing inflammation or infection in the pulp. This can result from deep decay, repeated dental procedures, fractures, or trauma that exposes the inner tooth structure.
Benefits
A root canal treatment is performed to remove infection, relieve pain, and save the natural tooth. Without treatment, the infection can spread, leading to abscess formation, bone loss, or the need for tooth extraction.
Methods
The procedure is done under local anesthesia. The dentist removes the infected pulp, cleans and disinfects the root canals, then fills and seals them with a biocompatible material. A temporary or permanent filling is placed, and in most cases, a crown is recommended to restore function and strength.
Timeline
What is it
A tooth extraction is the careful removal of a tooth when it can no longer be saved.
Causes: Tooth extraction may be necessary due to severe decay, infection, gum disease, trauma, or overcrowding. In some cases, wisdom teeth fail to erupt properly, causing pain or potential damage to surrounding teeth.
Why you need it
An extraction is recommended when a tooth cannot be saved with treatments like fillings, crowns, or root canals. Removing a problematic tooth can relieve pain, prevent infection from spreading, and protect overall oral health.
Methods
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The tooth is gently loosened and removed using specialized instruments. For surgical extractions, a small incision may be made in the gum. After removal, the area is cleaned, and in some cases, sutures are placed to aid healing. Post-procedure care includes managing swelling, avoiding hard foods, and maintaining oral hygiene to ensure proper recovery.
Treatments
In one appointment.
What is it
Periodontal surgery lifts the gums to clean deep infection and reshape bone, restoring a healthy base for the teeth.
Why you need it
In case of persistent gum inflammation, only after the non-surgical periodontal treatment has been executed.
Methods
A surgical procedure, with local anaesthesia, allows a more profound cleaning of the tooth surfaces and surrounding bone.
Timeline
Depending on the severity situation, it takes from ½ hour to 1 ½ hours.
What is it
An apicectomy is a minor surgery where the dentist removes the infected tip of the root of a tooth and seals it to stop the infection.
Why you need it
In case a root canal (re)treatment has turned out not be sufficient to resolve complaints.
Methods
Under local anaesthesia a surgical treatment of the tip of the root will be performed as the cause of most of the problems is found at the tip of the root.
Timeline
Depending on the severity situation, it takes about 45 mins for the treatment.
What is it
A gnathology treatment checks and adjusts how your teeth meet and your jaw joints move to relieve pain and give you a balanced, comfortable bite.
Causes: Oro-facial pains can manifest in many different ways and can be hard to explain by a patient and to diagnose. There can be many different causes and many confounders, because in the area many different nerves can be involved and can confuse a patient at localising the pain.
Why you need it
Why you need it: in the case of persistent (unexplained) complaints in the region of the masticatory joint, gnathology can help identify the cause and restore balance.
Methods
The dentist will do a set of tests and an examination that goes beyond the teeth and the oral cavity to localise and understand the origin of the complaints.
Timeline
Examination takes about 45 minutes where the patient receives instructions and tips on how to eliminate the factors that are causing this pain.
